A NIGHT OF JAZZ, HIPHOP AND SLAM POETRY FOR AUDIOACTIVE |
On Wednesday 24thSeptember, we held a fundraiser event called ParaChariParty at The BrunswickPub in Hove, featuring live slam poetry, rap, and jazz. It was a hugelysuccessful night- the place with more than full capacity and there was apositive buzz amongst the crowd.
We had on thefollowing acts: - Slam poetry from BBC4 Slam Poetry champ Disraeli (Hammer & Tongue)
- Open mic hosted by Hines (Slip Jam B)
- Hip hop from Special School’s Elemental and Jon Clark
- Shrapnel, Rizzle and other young people, part of Audioactive’s Hip Hop Foundation
- Live jazz, soul and funk from Jazzy D and the Geronimos (Simon D’Souza-sax, Phil Naylor-drums, John Bedford-bass and Luke Rattenbury-guitar)
We also had a rafflewith prizes kindly donated from local businesses: Terre à Terre, Stomp,Glyndebourne, Coco Vino, Noa Noa, Taylor Street Baristas and Komedia. Following the event,Audioactive Trustee and Treasurer Simon D’Souza did a sponsoredairplane jump on Saturday 27th September. In total,we managed to raise £1191.92 – we made £430.00from the event and a further £761.92 from Simon’s epic leap of faith.Supporters can still donate online by going to www.smartgive.com/funds/geronimo/  |
